From the hardwood to the boardroom, NBA legend and multimedia mogul Terry Cummings has excelled. Now with the release of his new album, Finally, Cummings steps into the studio and commands the microphone with the same grace he used to race up court for an uncontested slam dunk. As his debut recording effort for the Cummings Entertainment Group proves, he's not just some basketball player turned businessman turned vocalist. Cummings is a gifted self taught musician, an accomplished keyboardist, a sensitive songwriter and as a soulful singer, Cummings possesses something that's long missing in today's prepackaged, music scene: passion.
Born in Hammond, Indiana on March 15, 1961 and one of thirteen children, Cummings overcame challenging surroundings to become a star basketball player at Chicago's Carver High School, DePaul University and in the National Basketball Association from 1982 to 2000. Cummings has played for such franchises as the LA Clippers, Milwaukee Bucks, San Antonio Spurs, Seattle Supersonics, Philadelphia 76ers, New York Knicks and the Golden State Warriors, respectively. Cummings finished his career having scored 19,460 points and pulled down 8,630 rebounds in his incredible participation of 1,183 games.
Most athletes would have been content to rest on the faded echoes of their accolades. But that was not Terry Cummings’ style. He fulfilled a lifelong dream and formed his own company, Cummings Entertainment Group. A true Renaissance man, Cummings is an ordained practicing minister since the age of 16 and has acted, produced, directed and spearheaded many charitable efforts.
Some of his favorite vocalists and influences fall in the company of Marvin Gaye, Jackie Wilson, Sam Cooke, Al Green and Gerald Levert.
